“Pushing the idea of fabrication, the designers took the branding of the soccer team and introduced progressive architecture that engages the soccer fans. It looks like soccer heaven.”
– Jury, 35th Annual Interiors Awards
The Ghelamco Arena interiors project by Mac Stopa and Massive Design was honored with an Interiors Award in the sports category during the 35th Annual Interiors Awards presented by Contract magazine. Contract’s editor in chief John Czarnecki hosted the awards ceremony held on January 24, 2014 at Cipriani on 42nd Street in New York City with more than 550 people in attendance.
The five members of the competition’s jury – design leaders from across the United States – selected winners in 14 categories from nearly 400 excellent entries received from around the world. Each of the winning projects is located in a different city in the US, Canada, Spain, Austria, Belgium and Japan. According to the jury, each project “has a distinctive sense of place” and “strong design concepts closely tied to the characteristics and architecture of the buildings.”
